Best of the West Tournament

Naperville North 1, Benet 0

The top-ranked Huskies survived their final pool game with a first half goal from Zach Smith. Tommy Welch secured the shutout.

Northside College Showcase

Glenbrook North 4,  Grayslake Central 1

The 20th-ranked Spartans prevailed. Grayslake Central got a goal from Dani Orozco off a Thomas Ramsey assist, Goalkeeper Nick Murphy made three saves. "Hard to believe a team of Glenbrook North's caliber is in the seventh place game, but that just shows how tough this tourney is," said Grayslake Central coach Thomas Hamilton. "Both teams were struggling with heavy legs after a busy week, but it was a good game nonetheless. Lately we've been passing the ball well and creating some quality chances, but when you play the top teams you'll pay for your mistakes. We've learned a lot from these early games, and we're hoping that, with a little rest, we can build on the progress we're making and start getting results."

Nonconference

Wheaton Academy 5, Cuyahoga Valley (Ohio) 0

The Warriors notched two first half goals before adding three more in the second half. Sixth-ranked Wheaton Academy earned its fourth shutout of the year and moves to 5-0-0 overall.  The Warriors move into two conference games this week before beginning the PepsiCo Showdown next Saturday.
