Brendan Bergnach led the second-seeded Redwings (15-4-3) with a hat-trick after Sergio Polanco's 14th-minute opener. Benet led 3-0 at halftime. The victors received a pair of assists from Ruslan Holubec and single helpers from Declan Crist, Mark Ndrio, Danny Sterba, Jack Kuelthau and Teddy Nawrocki. Starting keeper Patrick Stasch did not allow a goal in 74 minutes of work. The sectional title is Benet's seventh and first since 2019. Next up for the Redwings, who are ranked sixth in the Chicagoland Soccer Class AA Super 7 poll, is the Wheaton Academy Supersectional against Grayslake Central Sectional second-seed Prairie Ridge at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 5). The winner advances to the Final Four. Top-seeded Wheaton Academy, which is ranked 13th in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25, concluded the season with a 21-4-0 record.
