At Warren
Warren 8, Hampshire 1
The Blue Devils (13-7-1), seeded third in the Huntley Sectional, built a 5-1 first half lead en route to the win. Kimberly White gave Warren an early lead with goals in the seventh and ninth minutes after assists from Reese Mertens, who also assisted Gwen Zajac’s final goal. Addison Stanciak contributed a brace.
Elise Weidemann and Jelly Amezquita each delivered a goal and assist. Kate Mondejar added a solo tally. Mia Gloria created two helpers, and Lorelli Barajas manufactured one. Keepers Emma Megerle (two saves) and Audrey Groth (one) shared the win. The Blue Devils advance to play second-seeded Lake Zurich (16-2-3) in a Huntley Sectional semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
West Aurora Regional
Plainfield North 3, Benet 1 (2 OT)
The fifth-seeded Redwings (16-4-1), who were ranked seventh in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25, fell to the fourth-seeded and ninth-ranked Tigers (20-2-1) in what was arguably the toughest regional final in the state. Audrey Eiseman scored for Benet on an assist by Ivana Vukas.
Class AA regional championship
At Mansueto (Chicago)
Wheaton Academy 9, Mansueto 0
All-stater Rebecca Schulenburg scored six times for the top-seeded Warriors (16-0-3), who are also the top-ranked team in the Chicagoland Soccer Class AA Super 7 poll. Annika Vandervelde contributed a brace, and Anna Africa put one on the scoreboard. Gianna Hughes led the team with two assists, and
Katelyn Schoepke, Annika Vandervelde, Mia Filippo and Elly Andrews delivered one apiece. Goalkeeper Calla Brust made one save for the clean-sheet. Wheaton Academy now heads to the Lemont Sectional for a semifinal match against fifth-seeded Nazareth (10-8-3) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
