Ali Ahmed scored the first half game-winner off a Nico Velasco assist. Chris Slawek earned the shutout with seven saves. Crystal Lake South improved to 6-3-1 with the win. Buffalo Grove dropped to 4-6-1.
 

Morton Premier Invitational

Benet 1, Lyons 0
The Redwings downed the 19th-ranked and host Lyons (7-2-1) on Brendan Bergnach’s second-consecutive game-winning goal. Sean Boyle and Ruslan Holubec were credited with assists on the 13th-minute strike. Drew Connell earned the clean-sheet without need of a save for Benet (4-3-1). Next up for the Redwings is Lane in the final day of event, Saturday, at 1 p.m. at Morton.
 

Streamwood Fall Classic

Streamwood 3, St. Charles East 3 (2 OT, Streamwood wins PKs 5-4)
Seventeenth-ranked Streamwood (9-2-1) took the lead twice in regulation on goals from Sergio Berrera (A.J. Sabanovic assist) and Alex Alcala (Berrera). Sixteenth-ranked St. Charles East (8-3-0) responded with tallies from Omar Ontiveros (Marc Walker) and Jake Walker (M. Walker). The hosts took a third lead after Ricardo Aguilar (Sabanovic) connected in the first overtime. The Fighting Saints Jake Walker (M. Walker) forced PKs in the 98th minute with his second goal. In the shootout, Streamwood’s Alcala, Jairo Sanchez, Bryan Huerta and Sabanovic scored in the first round. Andy Benitez scored the winner after Issac Morales saved the opening sudden death kick. He also saved one during regulation PKs. The championship Saturday will feature Streamwood and Oak Park and River Forest at 11 a.m. The teams tied in pool play.
