Central Suburban League South Division

Maine South 1, New Trier 1
Fifth-ranked New Trier (7-1-2, 0-1-1) opened the scoring early with a header off a corner kick. Maine South's Will Smucker answered with a header off a cross from Bartek Galimski midway through the first half. The second half failed to break the deadlock. The tie moved the Hawks (7-3-1, 1-0-1) into second place in the league. 

North Suburban Conference

Libertyville 1, Waukegan 1
Mateo Portillo gave the visiting Wildcats the first half lead off a Lukas Krezminski assist. The hosts fought back to force the draw. Andy Houser made two saves for Libertyville.

Nonconference

Hinsdale Central 4, Batavia 1
Martin Montoya scored a hat-trick to pace the Red Devils (7-1-2), who extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches. Enzo Cinque completed the scoring. Austen Szurgot delivered two assists, and Luca Davies produced one. The match was only the third between the schools; Hinsdale Central now holds a 2-1 series lead. Batavia assistant Tom O'Reilly was Mike Wiggins first assistant when the Hinsdale Central coach started his head coaching career at Downers Grove South in 1994. "(Batavia was) a much different team than last fall, improved and well-coordinated in the counter," said Wiggins. "As a result, it led to the goal that brought the game to 2-1. They did well to get numbers behind the ball, but I credit our guys with seeking ways to keep the ball, and still break down the lines to get into the final third. We had good chances throughout the game." The 18th-ranked Red Devils will train up to a big West Suburban Conference Silver Division match at no. 1 Oak Park and River Forest on Sept. 19.

Morton Premier Invitational

Morton 1, Lane 0
The second-ranked Mustangs outlasted their no. 21 visitors thanks to Carlos Tafoya's goal off a Josh Trujillo corner kick. The teams return to action on the final day of the invitational Saturday at Morton to face Lyons (Morton) and Benet (Lane). 

Streamwood Fall Classic

Group B

St. Charles East 4, Leyden 0
The 16th-ranked team in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25 had to beat Leyden to advance to the semifinals, and they did so with authority. Three teams finished with six points in the pool, including Dundee-Crown which upset St. Charles East previously; the Fighting Saints advanced via a tiebreaker. St. Charles East (8-2-0) rushed to a three-goal first half lead and cruised from there. After Omar Ontiveros opened the scoring on a PK. Marc Walker followed with a first half brace before halftime. Ryan Groselak scored the final goal and also registered an assist. Ontiveros assisted the final goal. Keeper Jordan Rolon made three saves for the clean-sheet. Third-seeded St. Charles East will face second-seed and tournament host Streamwood in the 5 p.m semifinal Friday.
