The youth movements at Metea Valley and host Waubonsie Valley will try to make it two wins in approximately 24 hours when they face off at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 12) in DuPage Valley Conference action.

Both teams recorded welcome victories Monday  evening in tournament play.

Waubonsie Valley (3-4-2, 0-1-0) took care of former DuPage Valley Conference opponent and current DuKane Conference member Wheaton North 3-0 in the second round of action in the Plainfield Classic. The win ended a four-game losing streak and six-match winless skein.

Prior to the comfortable victory over the Falcons, Waubonsie Valley’s previous wins came in the first two games of the season against Benet and Oswego East via 2-1 scorelines.

Metea Valley defeated Class AA Sycamore 4-0 Monday to finish 1-1-x in the pool play in the Body Armor tournament. Sahil Khare, Graham Leman, Michael Senese and Nico Villalobos, who also added an assist, scored for the Mustangs. Tony Cuautle, Langdon Kot and Dylan Ferreira added additional helpers. Ravi Shah and Pat Maroney shared the shutout.

Metea Valley (3-5-0) opened up conference play with a 3-1 victory over DeKalb on Sept. 7, but followed that with a 4-1 first round loss to Warren on Sept. 9 in its Body Armor opener.

The series record between the valley teams has evened out since Metea Valley briefly owned big-time bragging rights after beating Waubonsie Valley three times in 2017. Last year, the Warriors won 4-1 for the first victory over their rivals since a 1-0 decision in 2016. Since then, the teams have only played once per season with Metea Valley winning twice, the teams battling to a pair of draws and the Warriors getting that victory a season ago.

The game also counts in the standings of the Aurora Cup, a travelling trophy which is also contested by East Aurora, Marmion and West Aurora.
