DEERFIELD 2, Warren 0
The Warriors (14-5-2) took the ranked, tournament tune-up in the regular-season finale for both teams. Emily Fox scored the goals and keeper Lauren Gottlieb stopped eight shots for Deerfield, which is ranked 25th in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25. Ryane Emory and Maggie Culver provided the helpers for the Warriors. Lauren Gottlieb's seventh clean-sheet of the season moved her into a tie for third on the Warriors all-time list with Nicole Blumenfeld (Class of 2008) with 23 shutouts. Gottlieb trails 2010 graduate Emily Gilbert (25 shutouts) and 2016 alumna Sari Eisen (27). With her brace, 2022 Chicagoland Soccer All-Stater Fox has posted back to back 27-goal seasons. Her career total of 71 is four shy of the program record held by Kirby Wells (2004). Fox trails Wells 171-169 in career points. Deerfield is a no. 2 seed and opens the Class AA state tournament against 15th-seeded Mather at 4:30 p.m. May 16 at Ridgewood. Keeper Emma Megerle made five saves for 23rd-ranked Warren. The Blue Devils are a seven-seed and open the Class 3A postseason at 7 p.m. May 16 vs. no. 10-seed Elk Grove in a Fremd Regional semifinal. "Both teams had quality chances tonight," said Blue Devils coach Ryan McCabe. "We must give props to Deerfield for finishing their chances and making some great saves to keep the clean-sheet. We will learn and grow from today's game and be ready for playoffs on Tuesday."
